    Husband and wife team Keith and Mary-Anne Callinan retired from the lead of the Classics on the last stage of Day 1 after their suspension failed.

    The DeTomaso Pantera had a big spin when the rear suspension broke, but fortunately they hit nothing. They are now out of the event.

    They are unlikley to rejoin the rally tomorrow.

    Fine and mostly sunny weather is forecast for the weekend with Saturday's top around 26 degrees, and a warmer 32 degrees on Sunday.

    Sunday is also expected to be windy, with gusts up to 34km/h predicted.
